Knowledge of the stresses and strains represent just the first step in evaluating the strength of a component. Stresses often change over time and can generate damage accumulation in the material such that failure can occur at load levels well below the static failure strength. In this context, the assessment of components by FEA is a crucial tool in assisting the evaluation of fatigue performance during the design process.

Course Aims

Teach the basics of ANSYS in the following areas:

  • The main factors of material fatigue under cyclic loads
  • Becoming familiar with the possibilities and limitations in implementing different fatigue evaluation criteria
  • Discussed and performing ‘hands-on’ examples, you will understand the approach for evaluating the fatigue performance of components using FEA

Worked examples are fully documented in a Workshop Supplement which is also provided. Copies of all workshop files are also available to enable course attendees re-analyse course examples following completion of the Introduction to ANSYS Course.
