“@neurIST: Integrated Biomedical Informatics for the Management of Cerebral Aneurysms”
In line with its mission to share and expand its knowledge through international net working, CADFEM was extremely proud to be part of the @neurIST project.
@neurIST was a European initiative within the EU Sixth Framework Programme (Priority 2, Information Society Technologies (IST)).
This 4-year project started in January 1st 2006 with a €17 million budget, gathering 28 public and private institutions from 12 European countries. Several organizations from the U.S.A., New Zealand and Japan also participated as external collaborators. @neurIST partners included industrial, medical and academic institutions.
@neurIST was focused on cerebral aneurysms and sought to provide an integrated decision support system, which included simulation, to assess the risk of aneurysm rupture in patients and to optimize their treatments. This integrated approach, with simulation, was a significant advance on the exisiting process of cerebral aneurysm diagnosis where treatment planning and treatment development was highly compromised by the fragmentation of relevant data.
In @neurIST, CADFEM Ireland was responsible for the development and delivery of the simulation module which will have two distinct end-users: the medical device manufacturer and the clinical end-user.
